Compress PDF
Most of a PDF's weight comes from scanned pages and photos. This tool re-encodes those images at a sensible resolution and leaves text, links and layout untouched.
Files never leave your deviceHow it works
Add your files
Drop them in, pick them, or paste them. Several at once is fine.
Choose a size (optional)
Set the maximum size you need, or let the tool find a good balance on its own.
Download
Get each file individually or all of them in a single ZIP.
Why use SizeFit
Exact target size
Ask for 100 KB or 2 MB and get the best-looking file that fits — no guessing quality sliders.
Private by design
Everything happens in your browser. No uploads, no accounts, no copies on anyone's server.
Quality checked
Every result is measured against the original and rejected if the difference would be visible.
Smart, step by step
Lossless tricks first, then gentle compression, and resizing only as a last resort.
Frequently asked questions
Will the text in my PDF get blurry?
No. Only embedded images are re-compressed. Text and vector graphics are kept exactly as they are, so they stay sharp at any zoom level.
Why does my PDF barely shrink?
If a PDF is mostly text, it is already small and efficient; there is little left to remove. PDFs made from scans or phone photos usually shrink the most.
Can I compress a password-protected PDF?
Not yet. Remove the password in your PDF reader first, then compress it.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Compression runs entirely inside your browser on your own device. Your files are never uploaded, stored or seen by anyone — you can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it keeps working.
Is it free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit, because your own device does the work.
How does compressing to an exact size work?
Type the maximum size you need. The tool first tries lossless optimizations, then gradually increases compression, using a binary search to find the highest quality that still fits. It measures visual quality on every result and stops as soon as one fits without visible damage.
What if my file can't reach the size I asked for?
You still get the smallest version that keeps acceptable quality, and the tool tells you how close it got. Switching to “Smallest file” mode allows more aggressive compression.
