Compress images

Shrink photos and screenshots for upload forms, email attachments or faster websites. The tool keeps the original format and only resizes if it has to.

How it works

  1. Add your files

Drop them in, pick them, or paste them. Several at once is fine.

  2. Choose a size (optional)

Set the maximum size you need, or let the tool find a good balance on its own.

  3. Download

Get each file individually or all of them in a single ZIP.

Why use SizeFit

Exact target size

Ask for 100 KB or 2 MB and get the best-looking file that fits — no guessing quality sliders.

Private by design

Everything happens in your browser. No uploads, no accounts, no copies on anyone's server.

Quality checked

Every result is measured against the original and rejected if the difference would be visible.

Smart, step by step

Lossless tricks first, then gentle compression, and resizing only as a last resort.

Frequently asked questions

Will my photo be resized?

Only if needed. The tool first lowers compression quality at full resolution; it reduces dimensions only when that's the only way to reach your target size.

What happens to photo metadata (EXIF, location)?

It is removed, which also protects your privacy. The photo's orientation is applied so it never appears rotated.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Compression runs entirely inside your browser on your own device. Your files are never uploaded, stored or seen by anyone — you can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it keeps working.

Is it free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit, because your own device does the work.

How does compressing to an exact size work?

Type the maximum size you need. The tool first tries lossless optimizations, then gradually increases compression, using a binary search to find the highest quality that still fits. It measures visual quality on every result and stops as soon as one fits without visible damage.

What if my file can't reach the size I asked for?

You still get the smallest version that keeps acceptable quality, and the tool tells you how close it got. Switching to “Smallest file” mode allows more aggressive compression.
